Cindy Miller Bagwell, 58, born in Waynesville, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on December 30th 2025.

Cindy was a devoted nurse whose life was defined by care, compassion, and dedication. She loved helping people, and her work allowed her to touch countless lives across the country. Traveling as a nurse gave her the chance to see new places, meet new people, and make a difference wherever she went; a calling she embraced wholeheartedly.

Cindy also loved the simple joys of life. She cherished the beach, where she could relax and take in the beauty of the ocean. She was a die-hard South Carolina Gamecocks fan, and Williams-Brice Stadium was like her second home, where she could be among fellow fans, cheering on her team with unmatched enthusiasm and pride.

Above all, her family was the center of her world. She is survived by her sons, Phillip Bagwell and Corey Bagwell; her daughter, Lauren Bagwell; her daughter-in-law Cameron Bagwell (wife of Corey), her grandchildren, Paisley and Corey Jr. (CJ), and her Sister Becky Miller. She loved them fiercely, and her greatest joy was seeing them happy and thriving.

Cindy was a mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, friend, and nurse who gave love freely and fully. Her kindness, strength, and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Though her life was taken far too soon, her love, spirit, and the memories she created will live on forever in the hearts of her family and all who were lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and never forgotten.

She married Oliver Kenneth Bagwell, son of Wilton Horace Bagwell and Helen Watkins, on 6 December 1942 at Buncombe County, North Carolina. Lena Norma Allen and Oliver Kenneth Bagwell were divorced on 14 March 1974 at Buncombe County, North Carolina. Lena Norma Allen died on 11 January 2003 in Haw River, Alamace County, North Carolina, at age 78. She was buried on 15 January 2023 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler, Buncombe County, North Carolina;

HAW RIVER — Norma (Polly) Allen Bagwell of Haw River passed away January 11th, at the age of 98. She was born in Candler, NC in 1924. Polly was preceded in death by her parents, M.M. Allen and Lena Cordell Allen, as well as six older brothers and sisters. She was a member of Swepsonville United Methodist Church in Graham, NC.

She is survived by her two children O. Kenneth Bagwell, Jr, and Joan Bagwell Crowson (Danny); three grandsons, Nathan Barnhardt (Alisha), Keith Barnhardt (Melinda), and Kevin Barnhardt (Daniela Villalba); Miss Mey Lin Li of Vienna, Austria; seven great-grandchildren, Dylan Barnhardt, Zoe Barnhardt, Jameson Barnhardt, Tatum Barnhardt, Olivia Barnhardt, Parker Barnhardt, and Camden Barnhardt; two step great-grandchildren, Nicole Harp and Ayden Harp; and several nieces and nephews.

After WWII Polly moved to Atlanta, Georgia with her then husband, Oliver K. Bagwell, where she worked as a payroll clerk for Westinghouse Electrical Supply Co. After her children were born, the family relocated to Asheville, NC. Polly spent several years raising a family and beginning a career at AkzoAmerica. Although the marriage subsequently ended, she felt that raising her children was the greatest accomplishment of her life.

Polly transferred with Akzo America (now Akzo Nobel) to New York City late in her career. She retired in 1990 and returned to North Carolina. In retirement, Polly worked as a Guardian Ad Litem for abused and neglected children in Orange and Chatham counties. She volunteered as church treasurer for Aldersgate Methodist Church. Following the advice of a friend “never to postpone joy”, she loved tea parties, flowers, reading, travel, cooking, and singing in the church choir. She was serious about successfully completing the New York Times crossword every day.

Rich and Thompson funeral home in Graham will manage local arrangements. A memorial service will be held at Swepsonville United Methodist Church at 3 pm on Sunday, January 15th. She will then be moved to Asheville for a visitation at Groce Funeral Home followed by interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum in Candler, NC.

     Martha Pierce Royal married Oliver Kenneth Bagwell Jr., son of Oliver Kenneth Bagwell and Lena Norma Allen, on 26 May 1984 at Province Baptist Church, Charolette, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

     Jane Karen Tarr married Marc Christian Bagwell, son of Robert Lee Bagwell and Odette Louise Brierre, on 9 June 1974 at Bellmont, Illinois.
