     John Joseph Gentil was born in 1928 in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. He was U.S. Army Special Forces during WWII. He married Josephine Bette Kelln in 1959. John Joseph Gentil died on 13 April 2020. He was buried at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawan, Hampden County, Massachusetts.

Forest City, N.C. - John Roscoe Bagwell, 84, of Island Ford Road, Forest City, died on Monday, May 19, 2014 at SECU Hospice House of Rutherford County.

A native of Gaston County, he was born on October 04, 1929, a son of the late John and Bertha Jones Bagwell.

He retired from Spindale Mills after 39 years of service and also served 11 years in the National Guard. He was of the Baptist faith, loved to fish, play softball with his children and grandchildren and do crafts.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Holtzclaw Bagwell; one son, Keith Bagwell of Forest City; two daughters, Nell Gragg and husband Robert of Forest City, and Sandra Drake and husband Rev. Belton Drake; his grandchildren, Rev. Michael Ruff, Nichole Gragg, Rodney Gragg, Josh Bagwell, Chelsey Cole, Amanda Drake and Clint Drake, and seven great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Mr. Bagwell's Life will be held at the graveside at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park of Spindale with the Rev. Michael Ruff officiating.

Hazel Lucille Holtzclaw died on 22 October 2022 in Cherokee Springs, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, at age 87. She was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Forest City, Rutherford County, North Carolina.

     Nell Lavon Bagwell was born on 31 July 1955 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of John Roscoe Bagwell and Hazel Lucille Holtzclaw. As of after 1973,her married name was Gragg. Nell Lavon Bagwell married Robert Gragg after 1973. Nell Lavon Bagwell died on 24 March 2021 in Atrium Health-Cleveland, Shelby, North Carolina, at age 65


Obituary Nell Bagwell Gragg, age 65, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby. Nell was born Sunday, July 31, 1955 in Rutherford County to Hazel Holtzclaw Bagwell who resides in Chesnee and the late John Bagwell. She was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1973 and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Nell enjoyed fishing, sewing and especially spending time at the Broad River with family and friends. In addition to her mother, those left to cherish her memory include her husband of forty-three years, Randy Robert Gragg; children, Michael Ruff (Renee`) of Sandy Mush, Nichole Gragg (Steven Stetler) of Mooresboro and Rodney Gragg of Forest City; brother, Keith Bagwell of Forest City and a sister, Sandra Drake (Belton) of Chesnee. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Austin Ruff, Gavin Ruff, Klohiey Stetler, Audrey Stetler, Zach Stetler and Storm Gragg. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Belton Drake officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorial donations are requested to the Cliffside Fire Department, 4600 US Highway 221A, Mooresboro, NC 28114.

     Bobbie Ann Bagwell was also known as Margaret Bagwell. She was born on 24 December 1921 in South Carolina. She was the daughter of John Olen Bagwell and Bertha Lee Jones. As of after 1940,her married name was Hargett. Bobbie Ann Bagwell married (?) Hargett after 1940. As of before 1968,her married name was Guffey. Bobbie Ann Bagwell married (?) Guffey before 1968. Bobbie Ann Bagwell died on 9 October 1990 at age 68

Union Mills, NC - Bobbie Ann Bagwell Hargett died on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 1990 in the Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Native of Laurens, SC and daughter of the late John and Bertha Jones Bagwell. Retired textile employee. Survivors included: two daughters; two brothers; two sisters; and four grandchildren. She was 68 years of age at demise with interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Bagwell and Roscoe William Ward were divorced on 17 August 1959 at Rutherford County, North Carolina. As of after 1960,her married name was Shuler. Helen L. Bagwell married (?) Shuler after 1960. Helen L. Bagwell died on 10 June 2010 in North Carolina at age 90


Helen Ward Shuler, 90, of Carolina House, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010, at her daughter's home after declining health of two years.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Johnsontown United Methodist Church, 1057 Johnsontown Road, Thomasville, where she was a member, by Fred McClure.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home of her daughter on Arnold Road.

Mrs. Shuler was born on Sept. 4, 1919, in Laurens, S.C., to John and Bertha Bagwell. She moved to Thomasville in 1958 and worked at Carolina Underwear for 54 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jan McClure; a son, Herman Ward; daughter-in-law Linda Ward; and a great-granddaughter, Erin Rae Laxton.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Monson and husband Bubber of Welcome; son Jim Ward of Thomasville; daughter-in-law Pat Ward of Thomasville; son-in-law Fred McClure of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Jamie Thomas, Steven Monson, David McClure, Shonda White, Tonya Laxton, Jason Ward, Patti Ward and Laura Ward; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Carolina House, Hinkle Hospice House and special friend Vivian Broadway for the care they gave to Helen.
