He enlisted in the US Army during the Korean War from from 5 October 1949 to 25 March 1953. Dennis Hayes Bagwell married Betty Lynn Kenyon on 3 August 1995 at Cumberland County, Tennessee. Dennis Hayes Bagwell died on 2 June 2000 in Tennessee at age 68. He was buried at Elverton Cemetery, Roane County, Tennessee.

James Coleman Bagwell married Vesta V. Fomby after 1930. James Coleman Bagwell died on 21 November 1951 in West Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, at age 37.
