Roy Lee Bagwell, age 76, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Steve Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Robertson County Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 11, 2014 from Noon until 8pm and again Saturday morning from 11am until the hour of service.
Mr. Bagwell was born November 20, 1937 in Robertson County to the late Walter and Bessie Florence Ellis Bagwell. He worked as a smoke house operator at Oscar-Meyer, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents Mr. Bagwell is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Bagwell, his daughter, Kimberly Chowning, and his granddaughter, Candice Owens. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Norum Bagwell; son, Timothy (Rhonda) Bagwell of Hendersonville; daughters, Tammy Hughes of White House and Lisa (Alvin) Smith of Gatlinburg; brothers, Vincent (Juanita) Bagwell of Springfield, Billy Bagwell of Greenbrier, James (Norma) Bagwell of Freeman Spur, IL, Joe (Juli) Bagwell of Cedar Hill, Bob (Evonda) Bagwell of Bowling Green, KY, and John (Sherry) Bagwell of Greenbrier; sisters, Elizabeth (Joe) McClard of Franklin, KY, Norma (Earl) Sowell of Alexandria, TN and Nancy (Lewis) Heatherly of Springfield; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
