She grew up in the Boswell, OK area and graduated from Boswell High School. After graduation, she moved to Dallas, TX and worked for American Mayflower. She was an inventory clerk when she started and eventually became an in-house auditor after 20 years. She also worked for Color IV Corporation and KMS Construction as their bookkeepers. She married Ernest Arnold Smith on May 25, 1963 in Durant, OK. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and caring for her yard and flowers. She was called Gran- Gran by her five grandchildren. She sewed clothing for them and even made clothing for their dolls. In addition to being a loving wife and mom, she generously shared her gift of hospitality with family and friends. Freda’s long, courageous battle with cancer ended on June 27, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William Bagwell; three sisters, Cammie Bagwell, Shirley Ragsdale, and Taressa Bagwell; and nieces and nephews including Dana Marlene Bagwell, Pamela Sue Ragsdale, Amy Cheek, Michael Todd Cheek, and Harley Douglas Moody. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ernest Smith; son, John Arnold Smith, daughter-in-law Serette, and grandsons: Zachary and Nathan of Atlanta, GA; daughter Kim Reber, son-in-law Wes, granddaughters Bailey and Brittney, and grandson, Bryce of Lake Jackson, TX. She’s also survived by one brother, Henry Bagwell of TN; three sisters, Ruth Campbell of Dallas, TX, Faye Moody of Olustee, OK, and Linda Cheek of Broken Bow, OK; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her long-time friend, John J. Jones.
