Funeral services for James Bagwell, 90, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 19, 2015, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Entombment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mr. Bagwell passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the Northeast Louisiana Veteran’s Home. He retired from the railroad and was a Marine veteran of WWII. Mr. Bagwell will be remembered as a family man of great character who would help anyone in need of anything. He will be sorely missed by everyone.

Mr. Bagwell was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Bagwell; daughter, Beverly Bagwell Armstrong; and stepson, Vernon Jennings, and his parents.

Survivors include his daughters, Margarette Bagwell Gilley and husband Eugene, Jo Ann Bagwell McManus and husband James; grandchildren, James Robert Armstrong and wife Amy, Tammy Gilley, Michael Gilley, Kerry and Kimberly Jennings, Lisa McManus Naron and husband Terry; seven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM until service time Monday at the Mausoleum Chapel.

He was buried at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana.

     Mary Ann Homan was also known as Anna Mary Homan. She was born in November 1920. As of 11 August 1939,her married name was Jennings. She married Vernon Frederick Jennings on 11 August 1939 at Plaistow, New Hampshire. As of after 1945,her married name was Bagwell. Mary Ann Homan married James Garrett Bagwell, son of Garrett James Bagwell and Mamie Lockett, on 16 March 1948 at Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. Mary Ann Homan died on 19 April 1999 at age 78. She was buried at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana.

     Beverly Ann Bagwell was born on 20 May 1945 in Haverhill, Massachuetts. She was the daughter of James Garrett Bagwell and Mary Ann Homan. As of 20 November 1974,her married name was Armstrong. Beverly Ann Bagwell married (?) Armstrong on 20 November 1974. Beverly Ann Bagwell died on 26 December 1999 at age 54. She was buried at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana.

     Margarette Ann Bagwell was born on 19 June 1937 in Haverhill, Massachuetts. She was the daughter of James Garrett Bagwell and Mary Ann Homan. As of circa 1958,her married name was Gilley. Margarette Ann Bagwell married Eugene Gilley circa 1958. Margarette Ann Bagwell died on 14 August 2022 in Brentwood, Tennessee, at age 85



Margarette B. Gilley, age 85 of Brentwood, TN passed away August 14, 2022. She was born in Haverhill, MA to the late James & Ann Bagwell. Margarette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked for the Bellsouth phone company for 34 years and retired in 1990. She spent her retirement working at various pre-schools as a loving teacher and helping out with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid church-goer and enjoyed helping out others in need. She is preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Bagwell; sisters, Joann McManass and Beverly Bagwell; son in-law, Jeff Frey. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gene Gilley of Brentwood, TN; son, Mike (Julie) Gilley of Gallatin, TN; daughter, Tammy Frey of Thompsons Station, TN; grandsons, Michael Gilley and Joshua Gilley; granddaughter, Brittney (David) Campbell; great-grandchildren, Aiden Campbell and Skylar Campbell and many other loving family members.      Wanda Young was born on 28 February 1935.¹ As of after 1950,her married name was Bagwell.¹ She married Verlon James Bagwell, son of James William Monroe Bagwell and Mattie Emaline Malone, after 1950.¹ Wanda Young died on 2 July 2013 at age 78.¹ She was buried at Marshall Memorial Gardens, Albertville, Marshall County, Alabama.¹

     Beverly Bagwell is the daughter of Arlie William Bagwell and Alvie Mae Underwood.¹

     Courtnie Bagwell is the daughter of Arlie William Bagwell and Alvie Mae Underwood.¹ Courtnie Bagwell married Kenny Chaffin after 1976.

     Patricia Susan Bagwell was born on 3 January 1969.^1,2 She was the daughter of Arlie William Bagwell and Alvie Mae Underwood.¹ Patricia Susan Bagwell died on 4 January 2021 at age 52.² She was buried on 6 January 2021 at Union First Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery, Boaz, Marshall County, Alabama.²

Sander was born on 24 May 1910.¹ She was a Sergeant in the US Army.¹ As of circa 1959,her married name was Bagwell.¹ She married Richard Wallace Bagwell, son of William Oscar Bagwell and Anna Jane Beard, on 20 January 1959 at Maricopa County, Arizona.¹ Marguerite S. Sander died on 7 April 1993 at age 82.¹ She was buried at Prescott National Cemetery, Prescott, Yavapi County, Arizona.¹

     Roselyn Bagwell was born on 28 February 1920 in Chickamauga, Walker County, Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of William Oscar Bagwell and Anna Jane Beard.¹ Roselyn Bagwell died on 30 June 1942 in Arizonia State Hospital, Phoenix, Arizona, at age 22 of Acute Cardiac Dilation. She also suffered from epilepsy.¹ She was buried at Arizona State Hospital Cemetery, Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona.¹
