BRUNDIDGE, Ala. - Mr. Joseph 'Joe' Leo Bagwell passed away November 9, 2009. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 12, 2009, at 11 a.m., at St. John Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Harley Funeral Home in Greenwood, S.C. Burial will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, S.C., with Military honors. Officiating are Revs. Mack King, Kenny Horn, and Bill Franks. Thrash- Keahey Funeral Home directing. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Black Bagwell of Brundidge; sons and daughters in law, Perry and Carolyn Bagwell, Samuel and Diane Bagwell, Christopher and Diane Bagwell, Wendell and Paula Black; daughters and sons in law, Tonda and Steve Dewberry and Donna and Phillip Rugg; siblings, Betty Hood, Furman Bagwell, Bobby Bagwell, and Vivian Black; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Billy T. Bagwell, 89, of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, February 1, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, with Rev. Art Beebe officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at Hasley Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.

Mr. Bagwell was born on September 20, 1934, in Monroe, Louisiana, and passed away on January 27, 2024, at his residence in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Billy was a very family-oriented man who enjoyed spending time building fires, working, racing motorcycles and cars. He was a great mentor to a lot of kids.

Billy is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Bagwell; parents, James Coleman “Jamie” Bagwell and Vesta Fomby Bagwell; sons, Royce Bagwell and Kevin Bagwell; grandchildren, Colton Bagwell, Krystal Bagwell, and Brian Robisheaux; son-in-law, JB Thoman; and sister, Frances Bagwell.

The pallbearers will be Jason Zerweck, Josh Bagwell, Erik Wilcken, Lance Bagwell, Caleb Bagwell, Nick Amos, and Devin Myers.

He died on 15 August 1992 in Sanford, Seminole County, Florida, at age 81.¹ He was buried at Evergreen Municipal Cemetery, Sanford, Seminole County, Florida.¹

     Emma Bruce Bagwell was born on 16 September 1900 in Laurens, Laurens County, South Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of William Starling Bagwell and Daisy Mitchell.¹ As of after 1905,her married name was Bolt.² Emma Bruce Bagwell married Thomas Crews Bolt after 1905.² Emma Bruce Bagwell died in May 1962 in Seminole County, Florida, at age 61.¹ She was buried at Evergreen Municipal Cemetery, Sanford, Seminole County, Florida.¹

     Thomas Crews Bolt was born on 31 December 1889 in Laurens, Laurens County, South Carolina.¹ He married Emma Bruce Bagwell, daughter of William Starling Bagwell and Daisy Mitchell, after 1905.¹ Thomas Crews Bolt died on 6 February 1973 in Sanford, Seminole County, Florida, at age 83.¹ He was buried at Evergreen Municipal Cemetery, Sanford, Seminole County, Florida.¹

     He served as an SF1 in the United States Naval Reserve during World War II. Horace Bowman was born on 20 December 1921. He married Mary Etta Bagwell, daughter of James Frederick Bagwell and Myrtle Lee Brown, after 1945. Horace Bowman died on 13 August 1950 at age 28. He was buried at New Silver Brook Cemetery, Anderson, Anderson County, South Carolina.

Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Fate Bagwell and Lula Quarles. He was a member of Chiquola Baptist Church and retired from Milliken. He was a diehard Clemson Tiger Fan.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 61 years of the home are: three sons, Roy (Bev) Bagwell, Dale (Valerie) Bagwell, and Kenneth (Debbie) Bagwell, his daughter, Sandra Parnell, ( Charles, deceased), a sister, Mary Wheeler, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and his devoted, much loved companion and pet, Betty Lou. He was predeceased by two brothers, his twin, John Roy Bagwell and Henry Bagwell, a sister, Melindy Good, and special son-in-law, Charles Parnell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chiquola Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Powell, Rev. Brad Haynes, and Rev. Dr. Jerry White officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories.
