Bagwell died on 2 January 1950 in Oconee County, South Carolina, at age 75. She was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Seneca, Oconee County, South Carolina.

     Effa L. Bagwell was born on 25 April 1877 in South Carolina. She was the daughter of Baylis Earl Bagwell and Theresa Adeline Wilson. Effa L. A native of Raleigh, N.C., he was a retired locomotive engineer for Norfolk/Portsmouth Beltline Railroad. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary L. Bagwell and his parents, William G. and Aurora V. Watson Bagwell. Survivors include a daughter, Linda B. Bright and husband Rick; a son, Alan C. Bagwell and wife Joyce; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Clint, Andrea, Melanie, Michael and Matthew; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, in St. Therese Catholic Church by the Rev. James Gordon. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
