John Wayne Bagwell, age 68, of Slocomb, AL passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at his home in Madrid, AL. He was born March 29, 1948. John Wayne was an avid collector of "hot-rods" cars, loved going to car shows, especially every year to Auto Rama in Detroit, MI as a child. He enjoyed, with his family, Swap Meets at Freedom Hill, and he was crazy about his motorcycles. He enjoyed many vacations with his family, and had a special love for the Smokey Mountains. He enjoyed entertaining and loved to sing, he also loved a good word search puzzle. He loved his family and his very special dog Hoover. John Wayne was also a member of Pipefitters Local 636 Union. He graduated in 1966 from Detroit High School in Detroit, Michigan and was a journeymen pipefitter for over 30 years. He will be loved and missed very much. John Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Shirley Bagwell, father, John Robert Bagwell, grandson, Tyler Bagwell He is survived by three children, daughter, Stacy Bagwell Firu; sons, Jonathan Robert (Krystin) Bagwell and Jayson Wayne Bagwell; grandchildren, Malin, Roman, Jayden, Sarah and Vanessa. A Celebration of John Wayne's life will be held at Magnolia Funeral Home, 507 West Main Street, Hartford, Alabama 36344, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, 11:00 A.M. with visitation one hour prior to service. Martha Carolyn Howell and Mitchell Hughes Bagwell lived in 1930 in Precinct 1, Deaf Smith, Texas.⁶ Martha Carolyn Howell died on 1 August 1996 in Daisetta, Liberty County, Texas, at age 112.³ She was buried at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, Hardin County, Texas.³

     Eudora Elizabeth Bagwell was born on 4 December 1902 in Alpine, Clark County, Arkansas.^1,2 She was the daughter of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell.^1,2 As of 6 October 1923,her married name was Fagan. Eudora Elizabeth Bagwell married Claudie Jackson Fagin on 6 October 1923. Eudora Elizabeth Bagwell married Claudie Jackson Fagan on 6 October 1923 at Clark County, Arkansas. As of 6 October 1923,her married name was Fagin. Eudora Elizabeth Bagwell died on 13 September 2001 in Arkansas at age 98.

     Clarence Lem Bagwell was born on 22 August 1905 in Arkansas.^1,2,4 He was the son of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell.^1,2 Clarence Lem Bagwell married Maudie E. Fagen on 23 December 1923 at Clark County, Arkansas.⁵ Clarence Lem Bagwell died on 4 July 1983 in Arkadelphia, Clark County, Arkansas, at age 77.⁴ He was buried at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Arkadelphia, Clark County, Arkansas.⁴

     Leonard Mitchell Bagwell was born on 27 July 1908 in Arkansas.^1,2,3 He was the son of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell.^1,3 Leonard Mitchell Bagwell married Opal Estelle McFarling on 4 August 1934 at Deaf Smith County, Texas.⁴ Leonard Mitchell Bagwell died on 21 May 1979 in Jefferson County, Texas, at age 70.² He was buried at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, Hardin County, Texas.²

     Rufus Winnie Bagwell was also known as Winnie Bagwell.¹ He was born on 30 May 1910 in Arkansas.^1,2 He was the son of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell.¹ Rufus Winnie Bagwell died on 7 January 1924 in Pike County, Arkansas, at age 13.² He was buried at Straightway Cemetery, Clark County, Arkansas.²

     Ezra Joseph Bagwell was also known as Joseph Ezra Bagwell.      Paul James Hibert Bagwell was born on 25 September 1912 in Clark County, Arkansas.^1,2,3 He was the son of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell.^1,2 Paul James Hibert Bagwell married Alice Betty McMichael after 1930. Paul James Hibert Bagwell married Frances Marie Brownfield on 14 September 1974 at McLennan County, Texas. Paul James Hibert Bagwell died on 13 June 1980 at age 67.³ He was buried at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, Hardin County, Texas.³

     Dewey Delais Bagwell was also known as Dewey Deloise Bagwell. Dewey Delais Bagwell was also known as Duey Delais Bagwell. He was born on 15 May 1915 in Arkansas.^1,2,3 He was the son of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell.^1,2,3 Dewey Delais Bagwell married Eura Lee Hickman on 11 July 1936. Dewey Delais Bagwell died on 14 July 1998 at age 83 Dewey Dwayne Bagwell, age 75 of Orange, Texas passed from this life on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at his residence.

Born on January 1, 1940 in Liberty, Texas to his parents, Dewey Deloise and Eura Lee (Hickman) Bagwell, he lived in the Orange area for the last 43 years.

Dewey worked for over 30 years as a Lab Technician at the Texaco Refinery in Port Arthur and he was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp from 1958 until 1961 during the Vietnam Era, where he went on to receive the Good Conduct Medal and an Honorable Discharge.

Dewey was a simple man who worked hard. He enjoyed building things by way of carpentry, such as bird houses and swing sets for his family. He also enjoyed working in his yard and listening to his daughter Victoria sing.

Dewey is preceded in death by his mother, his father and his son, Steven C. Bagwell.

Those who will most treasure his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Donna J. Bagwell of Orange, his daughter, Victoria Bagwell of Orange, his sons, Michael Earl Johnson of Scapposse, Oregon, Charles Bagwell of Portland, Oregon, David Dingler of Kelso, Washington and Michael Carter of Orange, Texas, his sister, Anita Jane Doucet of Hot Springs, Arkansas, his brother, Fred Allen Bagwell and wife, Kathy of San Marcos, Texas, twenty-three grandchildren including Ghonnathan Bagwell, currently enlisted in the United States Army, eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Dewey is also survived by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A graveside committal service to honor Dewey’s life will be at 1pm Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Mary Williams Cemetery on Oilla Road in the Orangefield community.

Officiating will be Chaplain Robert Pitre with Compassion Hospice in Beaumont. Also present to Honor Dewey’s Military Service will be the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group.³ He was buried at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, Hardin County, Texas.³

     Clara Mae Bagwell was born on 6 July 1917 in Arkansas.¹ She was the daughter of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell.¹ Clara Mae Bagwell married Harry Seymour on 21 October 1934 at Deaf Smith County, Texas. As of 21 October 1934,her married name was Seymour. As of 1940,her married name was Lamberth. Clara Mae Bagwell married Charles Allen Lamberth in 1940. As of 2 September 1990,her married name was Gaskin. Clara Mae Bagwell married Jewel Benton Gaskin on 2 September 1990 at Jefferson County, Texas. Clara Mae Bagwell died on 10 May 2007 in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, at age 89. She was buried at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, Hardin County, Texas.

     Henry Hershel Bagwell was also known as Huisy Howell Bagwell. Henry Hershel Bagwell was also known as Hershal Howell Bagwell. Henry Hershel Bagwell was also known as Hershel Howard Bagwell.³ He was born on 3 July 1919 in Arkansas.^1,3 He was the son of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell.^1,2 Henry Hershel Bagwell married Virgie Mae Johnson before 1943. Henry Hershel Bagwell died on 25 January 1996 at age 76.³ He was buried at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, Hardin County, Texas.³

     Beal Doyle Bagwell was born on 3 June 1921 in Arkansas.¹ He was the son of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell.¹ Beal Doyle Bagwell married Lahoma June Russell after 1940. Beal Doyle Bagwell died on 14 March 1967 in Clovis, Curry County, New Mexico, at age 45. He was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, Amarillo, Potter County, Texas.

     Royal Junior Bagwell was born on 19 September 1925 in Dimmitt County, Texas.¹ He was the son of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell.¹ Royal Junior Bagwell married Eda Teresa "Deede" Robertson after 1948. Royal Junior Bagwell died on 17 February 2011 in Daisetta, Liberty County, Texas, at age 85 Royal J. (R.J.) Bagwell, 85 of Daisetta died on Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Baytown, TX.


There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, February 19 from 4-7 P.M. at Allison Funeral Services, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX. Funeral services will be on Sunday, February 20, at 11A.M. at the funeral home with burial to follow in Guedry Cemetery.

R.J. was born in Dimmitt, TX on September 19, 1925 to parents, Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Caroline Howell Bagwell. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was an active member of the Nolan D. Pickett Post VFW in Liberty. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and carpentry work. R.J. was retired from the City of Liberty where he served as the City Building Official.

R.J. was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and nine brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Deede Bagwell; two sons: Michael Royal Bagwell and wife Sheryl, and Richard Timothy Bagwell and wife Pat; two daughters, Patty Wadenpfuhl and husband, Sonny, and Tammy Kathleen Bagwell. In addition he leaves eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was buried at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, Hardin County, Texas.

     Mary Pearlee Callaway married Ezra Joseph Bagwell, son of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell, after 1930.

     Charles Edward Bagwell is the son of Ezra Joseph Bagwell and Mary Pearlee Callaway.¹ Charles Edward Bagwell married Geneva Lee Riggs before 1963.

     Steve Eugene Bagwell is the son of Charles Edward Bagwell and Geneva Lee Riggs.¹ Steve Eugene Bagwell married Christine Lucile Daniel on 31 July 1986. Steve Eugene Bagwell married an unknown person on 29 April 1993 at Ellis County, Texas. He married Belinda Lee Sammons on 29 April 1993 at Ellis County, Texas.

     Charles David Bagwell is the son of Charles Edward Bagwell and Geneva Lee Riggs. Charles David Bagwell married (?) Unknown on 28 May 1988 at Randall County, Texas.

     Opal Estelle McFarling was also known as Estelle McFarling. She was born on 6 June 1916 in Donley County, Texas.¹ She married Leonard Mitchell Bagwell, son of Mitchell Hughes Bagwell and Martha Carolyn Howell, on 4 August 1934 at Deaf Smith County, Texas.¹ As of 4 August 1934,her married name was Bagwell. Opal Estelle McFarling died on 9 May 1979 in Liberty, Liberty County, Texas, at age 62.¹ She was buried at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, Hardin County, Texas.¹

     Julia Ann Fox was born on 18 January 1871 in Jefferson County, Illinois.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas J. Fox and Julia Ann Dick. Julia Ann Fox married Elisha Perry Bagwell, son of Leroy Trailor Bagwell and Tabitha Mitchell, in 1891 at Pike County, Arkansas. As of 1891,her married name was Bagwell. Julia Ann Fox died on 14 July 1911 in Pike County, Arkansas, at age 40.¹ She was buried at Billstown Cemetery, Billstown, Pike County, Arkansas.¹

     Maye Gentry died circa 1912. She married Pleasant Henry Bagwell, son of Elisha Perry Bagwell and Julia Ann Fox, on 27 August 1932 at Pike County, Arkansas. As of 27 August 1932,her married name was Bagwell.

     Dallas Maryland Bagwell was born on 11 August 1896 in Murfreesboro, Pike County, Arkansas.¹ He was the son of Elisha Perry Bagwell and Julia Ann Fox. Dallas Maryland Bagwell married Nobie Estelle Webb on 8 April 1923 at Pike County, Arkansas.² Dallas Maryland Bagwell died on 8 October 1974 in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, at age 78.¹ He was buried at Japany Cemetery, Japany, Pike County, Arkansas.¹
