Malcolm Delano Bagwell, known affectionately as "Mac" to his friends and loved ones, passed away on February 2, 2025, at the age of 83 in Hamilton, Georgia. Born on October 21, 1941, in Fort Gaines, Georgia, Mac was a man of integrity, warmth, and a deep sense of duty, which he carried with him throughout his life.

Mac was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara Bagwell, his cherished grandson Johnny "Spud" Robertson, Jr., his father William Oscar Bagwell, his mother Sally Roberson Bagwell, and his brothers Middleton, William, and Frank Bagwell. He is survived by his loving daughter Kathie Drexler and her husband Tim, three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and his brother John Bagwell. He is also survived by his stepson Johnny Robertson (Jeannette) and a host of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Mac proudly served his country in the United States Army, a period of his life he often reminisced about with pride and a twinkle in his eye. After his military service, he dedicated ten years as the director at Harris County Water Works, where he was known for his leadership and commitment to excellence. Following his retirement, Mac's passion for building and creating led him to work alongside his niece, Vicki Bush, constructing homes for another decade, leaving a tangible legacy in the community he loved.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mac's life was rich with interests and activities that brought joy to him and those around him. His dog, Miss B., was a constant companion and source of unconditional love. Mac's passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for horses, raising cows, and tending to his farm. He was an integral part of the Harris County Rodeo, not only participating but also contributing to its success.

A man of faith, Mac served as a member and board member of Weems Road Freewill Baptist Church, where he found spiritual solace and fellowship. His commitment to his church community was unwavering, and his presence will be profoundly missed.

Mac's adventurous spirit shone brightly when he spoke of his travels. He had a gift for storytelling, often captivating his listeners with tales of the places he'd seen and the experiences he'd had, especially those from his time in the Army. His love for adventure was also shared with the younger generation when he worked with teens traveling with adventure groups, instilling in them the values of courage, resilience, and exploration.

A graveside service will be held Monday, February 10, 2025 at 11:00 am ET at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Alabama.

Henry Frank "Frankie" Bagwell, 77, of Fort Gaines, GA, passed away on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024. He was born on Thursday, December 19th, 1946 in Ft. Gaines, Georgia to the late William Oscar Bagwell and Sally V Bagwell.

Frankie was the beloved father of Dawn Anglin (Scott), Hank Bagwell, and Matt Bagwell. He was also a loving father-in-law to Katie Bagwell. He adored his grandchildren, Katlain Anglin (Nick), Kimberly Ashmore (Trent), Shelby Bagwell, Kayla Anglin, and Trace Bagwell. Frankie is also survived by his brothers, Malcom Bagwell and John Calvin Bagwell. He will also be greatly missed by his fur baby, Elsie.

Frankie was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Clay Bagwell, his spouse, Mary Joyce Bagwell, and by brothers, Middleton Bagwell and William Bagwell.

Frankie served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. After returning, Frankie spent his career in law enforcement. In most recent years, he served as the Chief Deputy Sheriff for Clay County, Georgia until his retirement. Frankie was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

There will be a visitation at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home on Sunday, August 25th, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church on Monday, August 26th, 2024 at 10:00 am, officiated by Rev. George Hartley. Interment will follow at NewPark Cemetery in Ft. Gaines, Ga.

Trent Ashmore, Nick Harmon, Sonnie Wallace, Ted Bell, James Davis and Locke Shivers will be serving as pallbearers. Law enforcement officers will serve as honorary pallbearers in honor of Frankie's service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local law enforcement charity in Frankie's memory. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and community.


He was buried on 26 August 2024 at NewPark Cemetery, Fort Gaines, Georgia.

Virgil T. Bagwell, 76, passed on Feb. 25, 2009, in Whidbey General Hospital, Coupeville, after a long illness. His memorial will be held at Sierra Country Club, 2685 San Juan St., Coupeville, on Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m. The funeral will be in St. Louis, Mo., on March 28 with interment following in Looney Springs Cemetery, Campbell Hill, Ill.

He was born Sept. 19, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri to Virgil Lee Bagwell and Mabel Beatman Bagwell. After graduating from Hadley Technical High School in St. Louis, he served as an Army medic during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he attended St. Louis University, graduating in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

Mr. Bagwell worked more than 30 years at McDonnell Douglas, which is now the Boeing Company, in St. Louis. He started his career in plant engineering, was promoted to senior engineer, then retired as facilities engineer.

Within a year of his retirement in 1999, Virgil and Marge settled into historic Coupeville, which they had decided was the town of their dreams. Thirty-plus years of engineering expertise allowed him to make tough heavy-duty tasks seem easy when, during this next phase of his life, he was a vital behind-the-scenes volunteer for a variety of community projects, including the Penn Cove Mussel Festival (2000-2006) and Coupeville’s annual Memorial Day Parade.

He married Margaret (Marge) Mary Abbott at St. Louis on May 3, 1958. His wife looks forward to the continuation of many visits at her Coupeville home from their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years; son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Pattie Bagwell and son Michael Bagwell, all of St. Louis; daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Charlie Calvert of Salem, Conn; daughters Alice MacDonald of St. Louis, and Nancy Bagwell of Bellingham; brothers and sisters-in-law Jim and wife Betty Bagwell of St. Louis and Ted and Judi Bagwell of Baton Rouge, La; and grandchildren Crystal and her husband Steve Cafiero, Stephen Calvert, David Eichholtz, Jacob Bagwell and Cordelia Rose.


He was buried at Looney Springs Cemetery, Campbell Hill, Jackson County, Illinois.

Mrs. Bagwell was born in St. Louis, MO, on Jan. 6, 1938, to Eugene A. and Margaret Mary (Williams) Abbott. Marge graduated from Presentation High School in St. Louis. She went on to attend Font Bonne College and the University of Missouri in St. Louis, where she received her Masters Degree in Higher Education. She was in charge of the reading lab at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley, MO, where she served as Associate Professor for thirty-one years.
Marge married Virgil T. Bagwell on May 3, 1958 at the West Overland Fire House in St. Louis, MO. The couple were residents of St. Louis until 1999, when she retired and they moved to Coupeville. Marge was actively involved in the community, and volunteered at the Central Whidbey Chamber of Commerce, the Central Whidbey Visitor's Bureau and the Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Coupeville. She enjoyed bridge, gardening and basket weaving.
Marge is survived by her five children: Thomas Bagwell (Patti) of Louisiana, MO, Margaret Mary Calvert (Charles) of Powell, OH, Alice MacDonald and Michael E. Bagwell, both of St. Louis, MO and Willow Rose (Nancy) of Portland, OR; her five grandchildren: Crystal Cafiero (Steven) of Uncasville, CT, Stephen Calvert (Hawley) of Ellington, CT, David Eichholtz and Jacob Bagwell, both of St. Louis, MO and Cordilia Rose of Portland, OR; two great-grandchildren: Mathew and Michael Cafiero, both of Uncasville, CT; her six sisters: Kay Oberkirsch (Joe), Sr. Jean Abbott, SJC and Jane Witte (Bob), all of St. Louis, MO, Helen Abbott of New York City, NY, Irene Lewis (Len) of Olympia and Elaine Lains (Tom) of Oklahoma City, OK; her two brothers, Tom Abbott and Joe Abbott (Kathy), both of St. Louis, MO; also, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil T. Bagwell in 2009.

In 1985 Jim was promoted to the Asst. Dir. then in 1989 became the Directing Bus. Rep. He was continuously elected unopposed throughout his career. Jim also was Managing Trustee of the Dist. #9 Welfare and Pension Trust. Over the years, Jim has been a delegate to Dist. #9, in the IL Council of Machinists as well as Vice Pres. of the MO. State Council of Machinists and Midwest States Conf. of Machinists, served on the I.A.M. prestigious Law Committee as a chairman at the 1992 Grand Lodge Convention, delegate on the Dist. #9 Exec. Board, Trustee and member of the constitution Committee for the Greater St. Louis labor Council, as well as MO AFL-CIO Exec. board. Mr Bagwell was a Proud member of the board of Directors for the St. Louis United Way and the RCGA Spirit Committee. He was an outstanding labor Leader and a friend to all workers. In his early years he enjoyed playing golf and spending summers with his family at their country home in Piedmont MO. He will be missed by many.
