Annie Elizabeth Bagwell Maxwell Albert was the daughter of Fanny C. Frith and William E. Bagwell. Her father died in 1863, and her mother married William H. Maxwell (1840-1883) who raised Annie as his own. While there was never a formal adoption, she used the name Maxwell on most records. She married Ernest Albert about 1881 and they had four known children: Ruby F. 1882, Elsie b. 1883, Edith b. 1886, and Ernest b. 1890.1

Hazel Bagwell Davis, 87, formerly of 141 Creekstone Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Brookview Healthcare.

Born in Rutherford County, she was the widow of Charles O. Davis and daughter of the late Joe Bagwell and Hester McCombs Bagwell. Mrs. Davis was retired from Timken and was a member of East Gaffney Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Frank Lee Davis and wife, Faye, and Jackie B. Davis, both of Gaffney; a half sister, Daisy Allen of New Mexico; nine grandchildren, Beverly Davis Blanton and husband, Darby, Frank Davis Jr., Kevin Charles Davis, Lori Stanford and husband, Robbie, Tracy Pennington, Courtney Ramsey and husband, Boss, Davis Dickson, Roger Davis Jr. and Shelia R. Davis; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jean Davis Dickson; two sons, Charles Richard Davis and Roger Joe Davis; three brothers, Hoyle Edward Bagwell, Ray Junior Bagwell and Joe Bagwell.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 1-2 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ron Jackson and Clifford Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Frank Davis Jr., Kevin Davis, Darby Blanton, Boss Ramsey, Davis Dickson and Robbie Stanford.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. 1886, Gaffney, SC, 29342.

She was buried at Frederick Memorial Gardens, Gaffney, Cherokee County, North Carolina.
