Vincent Bagwell, Sr., 86, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday July 7, 2016 at The Residence at Alive Hospice. Mr. Bagwell was born November 2, 1929 in Robertson County to the late Walter and Bessie Florence Ellis Bagwell.

He was an outstanding football player for the Springfield Yellow Jackets from 1947 through 1949. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and spent two and a half years in St Johns, Newfoundland. He married Juanita Clinard in October of 1950. He was a part of the family owned Robertson County Times and worked as a newspaper professional. Mr. Bagwell was a charter member of the Springfield Civitan Club, and had over 50 years of perfect attendance. He was elected as a Robertson County Constable for several years. Mr. Bagwell was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and the Unity Sunday School Class. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and photographer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death grandson: Kyle Scott Bagwell, by his brother Roy Bagwell, by his in-laws: Berlin and Marguerite Dean Clinard, and by his sister-in-law: Martha Ruth Clinard.

Mr. Bagwell is survived by his wife: Juanita Clinard Bagwell, sons and daughters-in-law: Vince and Debbie Bagwell, Berlin Scott and DeAna Bagwell, Christopher Bagwell, and Patrick Keith Bagwell, grandchildren: Walt (Liz) Bagwell, Brett (Hannah) Bagwell, Kristin (Justin) Muller, Carden Bagwell, great-grandchildren: Bray, Rowan, Grayson, and Vincent, IV., brothers and sisters-in-law: Billy Wayne Bagwell, James and Jean Bagwell, Joe and Juli Bagwell, Bobby and Evonda Bagwell, Johnny and Sherry Bagwell, Barbara Bagwell, sisters and brothers-in-law: Elizabeth and Joe McClard, Norma Sowell, Nancy and Lewis Heatherly.1

Billy Wayne Bagwell, age 90, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 12pm Saturday, May 25th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Dr. Steve Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery with grandsons Evan Bagwell, Ethan Bagwell, Casey Hahn, Preston Hahn, Walt Chitwood III, Shane Bagwell, Clayton Bagwell, and Jack Bagwell serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 10am until time of the service at 12pm Saturday, May 25th at the funeral home.

Mr. Bagwell was born April 11, 1934, in Springfield, to the late Walter and Bessie Ellis Bagwell. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany from 1954-55. Mr. Bagwell worked as a Printer for Nashville Electrographics Company for 42 years.

Mr. Bagwell was an avid fisherman, nature lover, and University of Tennessee fan. He loved his family, telling stories, singing, playing football, antique cars, and old movies about the wild west, especially starring John Wayne. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing and watching wildlife on the lake in front of his home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Krisle Bagwell; and brothers, Vincent Bagwell, Roy Bagwell, and James Bagwell.

Mr. Bagwell is survived by his sons, Bill (Laura) Bagwell Jr., Dwayne (Pam) Bagwell, Derrick Bagwell, and Dale Bagwell; daughters, Deborah (Keith) Gann, and Denise (Walter) Chitwood; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Joe Bagwell, Bobby Bagwell, and Johnny Bagwell; and sisters, Elizabeth McClard, Norma Jean Sowell, and Nancy Heatherly.



He was buried on 25 May 2024 at Springfield, Tennessee.

Mr. Bagwell was born August 17th 1942 in Springfield TN to the late Walter and Bessie Florence Ellis Bagwell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Vincent Bagwell Sr and Roy Bagwell.

He is survived by his loving wife Jean Bagwell, sons and daughter-in-law: J. Bagwell, J. and M. Bagwell, daughters and sons-n-law: Jamesa and Paul, Michelle and Kyle and A. Bagwell. Thirteen wonderful grandchildren and two beautiful great grandchildren. Brothers and sisters-in-law: B. W. Bagwell, J. and J. Bagwell, B. and E. Bagwell, J. and S. Bagwell, B. Bagwell, sisters and brothers-in-law: Elizabeth and Joe, Norma, Nancy and Lewis.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday November 14, 2020 at King Cemetery in Ewing, Illinois at 2:00pm. There is no visitation. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to the service.
