     Joann Bagwell is the daughter of Jesse Herman Bagwell and Mary Catherine Fowler.¹

     Mary Pearl Lyon was born on 1 January 1927 in Laurens County, South Carolina.¹ As of after 1946,her married name was Bagwell.¹ She married Maurice James Bagwell, son of John R. Beaman Bagwell and Allie Bishop, after 1946.¹ Mary Pearl Lyon died on 12 October 2008 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, at age 81


Mary Pearl Lyon Bagwell, 81, of South Bea Street, Oklahoma City, OK, and formerly of Laurens, SC, widow of Maurice J. Bagwell, passed away on October 12, 2008 at Mid West City Hospital in Oklahoma.

Born in Laurens County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Arvel and Jessie Mae Wardell Lyon. She retired from Torrington and was a lifetime member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving is one son and daughter in law, John A. Bagwell and Deborah of Oklahoma City, OK, one brother, Bobby Lyon and wife, Ginger, of Laurens, SC; two sisters, Evelyn Douglas and husband, Troy, of Toccoa, GA, and Grace Nix of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren, Jason Bagwell, Hiliary Bagwell, Karissa Mills and husband Chris, and Benjamin Rhodes; and three great-grandchildren, Kaenon, Kaidence, and Terron Mills.

She was predeceased by one son, Cecil David Rhodes and one grandson, Christopher David Rhodes.¹


She was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Laurens, Laurens County, South Carolina.¹

     John Arvel Bagwell was born on 13 February 1954 in Laurens, South Carolina.¹ He was the son of Maurice James Bagwell and Mary Pearl Lyon.¹ He served in the US Air Force for over 10 years. John Arvel Bagwell married Deborah Gist in November 1995. John Arvel Bagwell died on 21 July 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at age 65
John Arvel Bagwell went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 21, 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born on February 13, 1954 in Laurens, SC to Maurice and Mary Pearl (Lyons) Bagwell. John grew up in Laurens community, where he graduated from high school and went on to attend Limestone College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Business. Upon graduating college, John went on to serve over 10 years for the United States Air Force.

John was a proud American. He loved serving his country and his fellow Americans in any way that he could. He believed in what the US flag stands for, lived in such a manner and bravely served to protect its values. Upon serving in the Air Force, John went on to work at the Laurens Walmart Distribution Center.

In 1994, John moved to Oklahoma City and began working at the Choctaw Trucking Company before becoming a Loss Prevention Supervisor for Bed Bath & Beyond, where he retired. During his time in Oklahoma City, he met Deborah Gist, and they married in November of 1995.

Above all else, John always put God and his faith first. He was a proud Christian and tried to live his life by example. John was known to be very funny and had a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. John enjoyed taking his children, Jason and Hilary, fishing and camping while they were growing up. One of his greatest joy in life was being able to share his fishing secrets with his grandchild, Keanon, and being able to take Mila fishing for her first time. John also enjoyed researching what some may consider “conspiracy theories,” and sharing his findings with his family.

John is survived by his wife, Deborah Bagwell; daughter Karissa Mills and her husband Chris; son, Jason Bagwell and his wife Angela; daughter Hilary Bagwell and grandchildren: Taryn, Keanon, Kaidence and Mila. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Rhodes.

A service celebrating the life of John will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 3 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Service Chapel, 610 NW 178th St. Edmond, OK 73012. There will be a reception following the service for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made out to Integris Hospice House, 13920 Quailbrook Dr. Oklahoma City, OK 73134.

     Roger Wood is the son of Fred Barry Bagwell and Violet Foster.¹

     Ruby Nell Prather was born in 1918.¹ As of 12 April 1934,her married name was Madden. She married Woodrow Madden on 12 April 1934 at Laurens County, South Carolina. As of after 1940,her married name was Bagwell.¹ Ruby Nell Prather married Claude Robert Bagwell, son of James Robert Bagwell and Evie Oneva Knight, after 1940 at Laurens County, South Carolina.¹ Ruby Nell Prather died on 12 January 1989 in Laurens County, South Carolina.¹ She was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Laurens, Laurens County, South Carolina.¹

     Sylvia Bagwell was born on 11 February 1944 in Greenwood, Greenwood County, South Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of Frank Bagwell and Sibbel Evelyn Davenport.¹ As of after 1963,her married name was McSweeney. Sylvia Bagwell married James Richard “Jim” McSweeney after 1963. As of before 1976,her married name was Trayham. Sylvia Bagwell married (?) Trayham before 1976. Sylvia Bagwell died on 6 April 2017 in Ohio at age 73

She was born February 11, 1944 in Greenwood, SC, the daughter of Frank (1915-1976) and Evelyn Davenport (1915-1984) Bagwell.

She was a homemaker and had worked as a secretary for a law firm, had done factory work and worked in the cotton mills. She was a member of the Friendship Presbyterian Church in Hickory Tavern, SC.

She is survived by her children, Barbi (Nicholas) Peterson of Apple Creek, OH, Renee (John) Sears of Wooster, OH, Lance (Stefanie) Traynham of W. Salem, OH, Tammy Traynham of Ashland, OH and Frankie (Samantha) Traynham of Hickory Tavern, SC; grandchildren, Ashley Coker, Brittney Lothridge, Lindsey Harvley, Kayla Lothridge, Zackary Sears, Patrick Traynham, Brandon Peterson, Hope Petterson, Taylor Traynham, Collin Traynham Christian Traynham, Samantha Hall, Whitney Hall, Tayler Wilkie, Stasi Canfield, Logan Traynham, Dakota Traynham, Hunter Traynham, Courtney Bragg and Chris Hall, 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother Randy Bagwell.

Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St, Wooster, OH on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 4-6:00 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at the Friendship Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Hickory Tavern, SC on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.¹
