     Frances Bagwell was born on 4 February 1939 in Easley, Pickens County, South Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph Calvin Bagwell and Eunice Irene Black.¹ As of after 1956,her married name was Black.¹ Frances Bagwell married Gerald Thomas Black after 1956.¹ Frances Bagwell died on 21 December 2020 at age 81


Frances Bagwell Black, 81, beloved wife of the late Gerald Thomas Black, passed away December 21, 2020.

Born in Easley, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Calvin Bagwell and Eunice Irene Black Bagwell.

Mrs. Black was the founder of Black's Seafood Restaurant. She was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church and enjoyed her Arts and Crafts.

Surviving are her daughters, Tammy Seay and husband, Mark, Lisa Lyday and husband, Ricky, and Fonda DuPre and husband, Scott all of Easley; grandchildren, Faith DuPre, Joseph DuPre, Ashley Lyday Lappin and husband, Matthew, Michael Lyday, Dusty Trotter and wife, Ashely, and Alina Trotter Wright and husband, Robert; great grandchildren, Ashtin and Coleman Trotter, Bladen and Makayla Marchbanks, and Luke Lappin; and a sister, Brenda Gilstrap.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Brown, Shirley Trotter and Teresa Fant; and a brother, Wayne Bagwell.

He was buried at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens, Pickens County, South Carolina.

Easley, SC - Gerald Thomas Black, 69, of 150 Fish Camp Road and husband of Frances Bagwell Black, died Monday, July 7, 2008.

Born in Greenville County, a son of the late Lewis Thomas and Clovie Pearl Lewis Black, he owned and operated Black's Seafood Restaurant, a business started by his parents, until his retirement in 1999, at which time he began his own landscaping and construction business. He was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are: three daughters, Tammy Seay and husband, Mark, Lisa Lyday and husband, Ricky, and Fonda DuPre and husband, Scott, all of Easley; two sisters, Peggy Cooper and Ruby Crow, both of Easley; six grandchildren, Faith and Joseph DuPre, Ashley and Michael Lyday, and Dusty and Alina Trotter; three great-grandchildren, Ashtin Trotter, and Bladen and MaKayla Marchbanks; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 3 PM, Wednesday at Jones Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Roger Couch and Rev. Clyde Gravley officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.¹

     Nellie Blanche Evans was born on 15 October 1935. As of 17 March 1951,her married name was Bagwell. She married James Edward Bagwell, son of Attis Lee Bagwell and Ruby Lee Griffith, on 17 March 1951 at Austell, Georgia. Nellie Blanche Evans died on 18 June 2009 in Cherokee Medical Center, Centre, Alabama, at age 73

Mrs. Nellie Blanche Evans Bagwell, 73, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away June 18, 2009 at Cherokee Medical Center, Centre, Alabama. She was born on October 15, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Mr. Clyde Evans and the late Mrs. Ima Jewell Couch Evans. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia. She retired from Douglas County School Transportation as a school bus driver with thirty years of service. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved bowling. She is also preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Bagwell, daughter, Cathy Sue Bagwell, son Danny Edward Bagwell, sister, Mary Frances Camp, and a brother, Johnny Evans. She is survived by a daughter and son in-law, Cindy and Wandel Bragg of Douglasville, son, Randy Bagwell of Douglasville, sisters and brother in-laws, Ruth Fretwell of Buford, Georgia; Ann and Raymond Long of Douglasville, Jean Dukes of Bill Arp, Verna Evans of Douglasville, and Patricia and Collis Spivey of Douglasville, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 4:00PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Marbut officiating. Interment will follow at Bright Star United Methodist Cemetery in Douglasville. The family will receive friends Friday June 19, 2009 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel. As of 21 September 1930,her married name was Johnson.² Thelma Lela Bagwell married Robert Vance Johnson on 21 September 1930 at Memphis, Hall County, Texas.² Thelma Lela Bagwell and Robert Vance Johnson lived in 1954 in Washington, D.C. Thelma Lela Bagwell died on 4 October 1992 in Volusia County, Florida, at age 82.¹ She was buried at Shady Rest Cemetery, Holly Hill, Volusia County, Florida.^1,2

     Robert Vance Johnson was born on 20 August 1911 in Texas. He married Thelma Lela Bagwell, daughter of William Madison Bagwell and Nova Alla Blanton, on 21 September 1930 at Memphis, Hall County, Texas.¹ Robert Vance Johnson and Thelma Lela Bagwell lived in 1954 in Washington, D.C. Robert Vance Johnson died on 12 December 2002 in Hendersonville, Henderson County, North Carolina, at age 91.

     Wayne Robert Bagwell is the son of William Blanton Bagwell and Florence (?) Wayne Robert Bagwell married Carolyn M. Unkown in July 1967 at Orange County, Florida. Wayne Robert Bagwell and Carolyn M. Unkown were divorced on 5 April 1972 at Hillsborough County, Florida. Wayne Robert Bagwell married Leeanna J. Stoor on 5 August 1972 at King County, Washington.

     Carolyn M. Unkown married Wayne Robert Bagwell, son of William Blanton Bagwell and Florence (?), in July 1967 at Orange County, Florida. Carolyn M. Unkown and Wayne Robert Bagwell were divorced on 5 April 1972 at Hillsborough County, Florida.

     Barbara Viola Herter was born on 21 January 1929 in Orange County Memorial Hospital, New Jersey. As of 5 June 1948,her married name was Bagwell. She married Captain John Wesley Bagwell, son of William Madison Bagwell and Nova Alla Blanton, on 5 June 1948. Barbara Viola Herter died on 25 June 2021 at age 92


Lake Lure - Barbara Viola Herter Bagwell was born in Orange County Memorial Hospital in New Jersey on January 21, 1929. Barbie grew up in the Great Depression and was never scared of a little challenging work or rolling up her sleeves - something that you couldn't help but notice even into her 90s.

She met her match in the summer of 1948, and on June 5th that year, she married John Wesley Bagwell. Barbie and JW were best friends - partners in business and life. They sold JW's Buick convertible to start their Flower shop in Daytona Beach, Florida, and grew the business over the years with an unmatched work ethic and love for Jesus.

They raised two children, John Bagwell and Lynn Bagwell, who were an extra pair of hands for Bagwell Florist shop and the most loved employees at the store.

Barbara lived a life full of love with a passion for Jesus, and telling everyone was her life mission. Barbie loved to serve others at Lake Side Chapel and Chimney Rock Baptist Church in Lake Lure and wore many hats on different days of the week with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. She loved her friends, family, friends of the family, and strangers on the street - Barbara was Grammy to so many different people.

We will miss Barbara Bagwell and can smile knowing she is again with her JW in the presence of the heavenly father. She spent her life following Jesus, loving others, and living the Barbie way. Barbara is survived by son John Wesley Bagwell Jr. and his wife Brenda, and son Wesley Bagwell. Her daughter Lynn Brewer and husband Dickie Brewer and their four sons John Barclay, Paul Barclay and wife Katy, Rich Brewer and wife Katie, and Josh Brewer and his wife Laura.

Memorial services will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday, June 30, 2021 with Rev. Alex Heafner and Rev. Gene Daggerhart officiating. A reception will follow the service.
