Coleman Bagwell died on 10 August 1945 in Kawailani Camp, Hilo, Hawaii, at age 23 was murdered by Private Hulon Kennedy (USMCR). Hulon Kennedy was sentenced to life imprisonment for second degree murder. He was buried at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Chester, Chester County, South Carolina.
