Born Wednesday, April 6, 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late A.W. Carson and the late Lois Tucker Carson. She was the wife of the late Wilburn Bagwell.

She was a devoted homemaker. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter, Lisa McDaniel of Bruce, MS, brother, Allen (Kathy) Carson of Memphis, TN, sisters, Virginia (David) Rhynes of Waterford, MS, Barbara Adams of Clearwater, FL and Deloris Daves of Nashville, TN; grand children; Angelin (Casey)Smithson of Bruce, MS. Christopher McDaniel of Bruce, MS. RheAnna McDaniel of Bruce, MS. 6 great grand children.

A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gerald Finley officiating.

Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery, Bruce, MS.

Pallbearers will be James Fry, Christopher McDaniel, Casey Smithson, Keith Smithson, William Smithson, and Carnell
Whitiker.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home, 476

Frances Louise Bagwell died on 11 January 2014 in Statesville, Iredell County, North Carolina, at age 96 Mrs. Frances Louise Bagwell Thomas, 96, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at her home.

Mrs. Thomas was born September 10, 1917, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Raleigh M. Bagwell and Myrtle Wade Bagwell Shook. She was a graduate of Scotts High School. In 1938 she was married to A. Frank Thomas Sr, who preceded her in death on July 20, 2008.

From 1961 until 2000 Mr. and Mrs. Thomas made their home in Jacksonville, Florida. While living there Mrs. Thomas became quite proficient as an artist in oil painting. Her art was shown throughout the Jacksonville area which led to many patrons buying her art work.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of First Presbyterian Church where during her earlier years she was very involved with the church and the Women of the Church. She was also an excellent homemaker.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Allie Franklin Thomas, Jr, who died in 2010.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her daughter, Frances B. Thomas of the home and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, January 17, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Grant Sharp and Rev. Stephen Vance, Hospice Chaplin, officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorals may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County. 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC. 28625, or to the charity of the donors choice.1 She was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Statesville, Iredell County, North Carolina.1

Calvin Jones Deal1

M, b. 25 January 1834, d. 23 December 1911
     Calvin Jones Deal was born on 25 January 1834 in Catawba County, North Carolina.1 He married Mary Adeline Bagwell, daughter of Lorenzo Dow Bagwell and Agnes Elizabeth Morrison, on 21 March 1866.1 Calvin Jones Deal died on 23 December 1911 in North Carolina at age 77 Calvin Jones Deal was born in Catawba County, North Carolina on Jan. 25, 1834. He was the third of nine children born to Jacob Deal, Sr. and Catherine Ward Deal.

Calvin enrolled into the Confederate States Army on Nov. 21, 1861. His place of enrollment is Alexander County and he was enrolled by G.W. Sharpe. He was 25 years old with an occupation of Clerk and he is listed as being 5 ft 5 1/2 inches tall. He was Mustered into service on Dec. 31, 1861 at Camp Mangum for a period of service of one year.

His service was with the 38th Regiment North Carolina Infantry (State Troops). He was listed as present from Jan. 31 to Mar. 31, 1862. From April 1 to July 1, 1862 he was listed as absent and wounded in hospital. From July to Aug. 1862 he was listed as being present with a note saying he was wounded on Jun 26, 1862. In Nov. thru Dec. 1862 he was absent left sick in Richmond.

In Jan. thru Feb. 1863 he was listed as absent and being on detached service. From March to April 1863 he was again on detached service as a hospital nurse at Richmond starting on Apr. 1st. From May to June 1863 again on detached service at the hospital in Richmond. In March thru April, 1864 he is listed as present. Again from May to June, 1864 he is listed as present.

Calvin is again present from July to Aug. 1864, and it states that he was promoted from Corporal to Full Sergeant on July 1, 1864. Sept. and Oct. 1864 he is listed as being absent sick. He was finally surrendered on April 9, 1865.

Calvin returned home to Alexander County where on March 21, 1866, he married Mary Adaline Bagwell. They would go on to have ten children: Oscar Summerfield on Mar. 28, 1866; Jacob Jones on March 2, 1868; Minnie Lula on Jan. 11, 1869; John Pescus on Sept. 14, 1870; Joseph Archibald on Aug. 2, 1872; Bim Luther on Sept. 15, 1873; Mary Elizabeth on July 25, 1875; David Morrison on Apr. 16, 1878; Samuel Tee on Aug. 19, 1879; and Charley Deems on June 29, 1881.

Calvin and Mary Adaline continued to live in Alexander County and raise their family until her death on Feb. 26, 1885 at age 41. Calvin would remain a widower for 11 years until he married Amanda M. Childress on Nov. 17, 1896. He and Amanda would remain married for 15 years until Calvin's death on Dec. 23, 1911 at age 77.1 He was buried at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Taylorsville, Alexander County, North Carolina.1
